Giulia Montagna (giulia.montagna04 ꩜universitadipavia.it) earned a master’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics (110/110 cum laude) at the University of Pavia (Italy) in the October 2018. During the two-years master’s degree, she won two Erasmus Traineeship fellowships. The first fellowship was worth a 5 months internship at the Centre for Cell Engineering, in the laboratory guided by Prof. Matthew Dalby (University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK). In Glasgow she was introduced to the metabolomics research field, although she also learned cell depletion techniques, starting from bone marrow and blood human samples. She wrote her dissertation based on the biochemical and biomolecular techniques used to evaluate cellular responses, when introduction of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles in culture medium is performed. Thanks to the second fellowship she will be allowed to spend 5 months at the University of Turku (Finland), working in the laboratory driven by Prof. Peter James. In the October 2018, she was admitted to the PhD course Health technologies, bioengineering and bioinformatics, at the University of Pavia. Nowadays, she works on the application of proteomics and metabolomics protocols in order to solve biological problems.
